The peaks of Kamalgadh, Pandavgadh, and Mandardeo can all be seen from here, as well as the Dhom and Balakwadi dams. Tourists are drawn to Needle Hole Point, a natural opening in a nearby rock formation.

The dam was built across the Krishna River in the village of Dhom, 21 km from Panchgani. Located between two large hills, it is an ideal place for a dam to be built. The dam’s construction began in 1976 and was finished in 1982. A power generation plant with a capacity of 4MG is at the dam.
