Mathura
Lord Shri Krishna’s Abode
Mathura, one of Hinduism’s seven holiest places, is where the much-beloved Lord Krishna was born. Mathura and Vrindavan, both in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, are so close together that they are often referred to as “twin cities.” The small town of Mathura in India is visited by millions of pilgrims every year due to the abundance of temples from many different time periods.
Shri Krishna Janmabhumi is Mathura’s top attraction because it is widely held to be the actual site where Lord Krishna was born and because the prison where he was born has been preserved for visitors to explore. Many of the city’s numerous temples are dedicated to Krishna. The Dwarkadheesh Temple and the Gita Mandir are the two holiest sites in the city.
