The Maratha queen Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore built the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in 1780. The Hindu god Shiva is the focus of worship at this historic temple. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the most sacred Shiva temples, and is situated in Varanasi’s Vishwanath Gali in Uttar Pradesh.
