Located on the Annamalai hill ranges at more than 3400 feet above sea level, Valparai is a well-known hill station surrounded by tea estates, protected forests, and steep valleys. The pleasant weather of the city is said to be suitable for the cultivation of tea; hence, there are more than 50 tea estates in the vicinity. Located close to the elephant corridor, it is a favourite habitat of jumbos, and every now and then they can be seen relaxing in the tea estates. The approach road to the city is constructed on a steep and narrow mountain face with many hairpin bends that enthral the travellers. Great staying options, fantastic weather, bountiful nature, and plenty of rain are what Valparai has to offer visitors. It is located about 105 kilometres from Coimbatore. The nearest air link is also in Coimbatore. The nearest railway station is at Pollachi, 65 kilometres away.
Nearby Places to See
Iraichal Parai Waterfall
Approximately 9 kilometres from Valparai, on the outskirts of some stunning tree-lined tea plantations, is where you’ll find this enchanting waterfall. Water from the hills above rushes down to the plains through this seasonal waterfall, creating a beautiful spectacle during the monsoon. The waterfall itself is seasonal, reaching heights of 60 to 80 feet.
Birla Waterfalls
Birla Falls, as the locals call it, is about 4 kilometres away from the city. As a result of its convenience and the large pool of water at its base, it attracts a lot of visitors.
This viewpoint, about 20 kilometres from Valparai, offers a beautiful panorama of the expansive pools of the backwaters. The dam was constructed in 1965 across the Chalakudy River, and its primary function is to provide electricity and water for irrigation.

Monkey Falls
Only about 35 kilometres from Valparai, it can be found a short distance from the main road connecting the two cities. This fifty- to sixty-foot cascade widens at the bottom. The large number of monkeys who live in the area inspired the waterfall’s nickname.

Across the Nirar River stands a dam that was constructed in the year 960, roughly 9 kilometres from the city. Seeing as how the dam is situated at the beginning of a gorgeous, wide valley, the backwaters are clearly visible in the valley behind the structure. Before the dam was built, the valley was probably much deeper, but the view is still beautiful.
The breathtaking scenery of the surrounding mountain ranges can be seen from the dam site, which is situated at the base of the Anaimalai hills. About 40 kilometres away from Pollachi town.

Gardens, a park, and a play area have been constructed close to the dam, making the area a wonderful place to spend time. The bridge was constructed in 1969 over the Aliyar River.
It’s a stunning temple set within the Karimalai estate, about 10 kilometres from the city centre. For the spiritually attuned, this is a tranquil spot to pray to Bhagawan Balaji.
