The Nubra Valley, blessed by nature, is known for its high altitude, cold desert in Hunder Village. Khardung La, the second-highest motorable pass in the world and the mountain pass separating Leh and Nubra, is one of the valley’s top attractions. The hot sulphur springs in Panamic or Panamik village in Ladakh are a major draw. In Nubra Valley, Hunder village is located like an oasis in the middle of the chilly desert. At an elevation of 4,000 metres, the cold desert is made up of stunning silver sand dunes and is bordered by snow-capped mountains. The other attractions are the Bactrian Camel Safari and the placid Yarab Tso lake. Nubra is a popular tourist destination due to its stark beauty, which includes vast stretches of arid sand dunes, ancient ruins, and peaceful Buddhist monasteries. The valley is perched at the confluence of the rivers Shyok and Siachen, about 150 kilometres from the town of Leh. Pashmina goats can be found in the valley as well.

It is situated in Sumur, 33 kilometres from Diskit, the Nubra Valley’s main city. There are murals of Buddha and his teachings in this building, which was founded more than 130 years ago. Tourists come to the village because of its picturesque setting.

The 250-year-old Ensa monastery is home to stunning Buddha murals. From Panamik, the hike to this monastery takes about 4 hours.

Yarab Tso Lake
It takes some hiking to reach this lake’s location between two mountains, where the water is incredibly clear. The lake is about 48 kilometres from Diskit, right after the village of Sumur.
