It’s a man-made lake in the shape of a star, and it’s right in the middle of town. Originally covering an area of 60 acres, this park was established in 1863 by the British collector of Madurai. It’s a vantage point located about 6 kilometres from the centre of town. After parking the car, the 3 kilometres hike to the viewpoint takes place through lovely woods that, in the monsoon and winter, are shrouded in mist. The valley is pierced by a rock with the appearance of a dolphin’s nose. On this rock, one can stand and take in the breathtaking view of the valley and surrounding hills.
Guna Caves
This location was discovered in 1821 by British officer B. S. Ward. It is a place that is both dangerous and thrilling while also being mysterious. It is advised to travel there with a guide. These three boulder-formed caves, which are located 7 kilometres from the city, were known as Devil’s Kitchen until 1992, when they were only occasionally visited by trekkers. However, the name of the location was changed to Guna caves after the release of the 1992 Tamil film Guna, which made it a popular tourist destination.
