Coonoor, a hill station in Tamil Nadu, is abound with tea estates in the neighbouring Nilgiri Hills. Known for its verdant environment, Coonoor showcases various wildflowers and birds with its serene wildlife experience. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway, running on steam engines, chugs down the tracks between the towns of Mettupalayam and Ooty, enroute to Coonoor. One of the most popular hill stations in India, with all-year-round pleasant weather, it is located approximately 21 kilometres away from Ooty at an elevation of about 200 feet. The main attraction is the tea estates, which can be found in abundance. The hill station offers the ideal setting for adventurous pursuits. There are numerous hiking and trekking trails, in addition to camping sites. A fun ride can be taken on the toy train that runs between Coonoor and other nearby stations.

Sim’s Park, an extremely popular sight in Ootacamund, is spread over 12 hectares of undulated land. Uncommon to other parts of Ootacamund, the park is home to a wide variety of floral species. Along with the trees, shrubs, and creepers that already occupy this park-turned-botanical-garden, there are several species of foliage that have been imported from around the globe. A Queensland Kerry pine tree and a Rudraksha ped (bead tree) are two of the garden’s standout features. Adjoining the park are the Pomological Research Station, SilkWorm Seed Station, and the Pasteur Institute.
