Laitlum, the Grand Canyon of India, is about 45 kilometres from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. It provides stunning views of an unexplored green canyon. Although a little challenging to navigate, the terrain offers the best views.

Elephant Falls
It is a three-tiered waterfall that is about 28 kilometres away from the canyon. The first two levels are covered by vegetation and extend for about 70 feet. It widens as it tumbles over the gently sloping and outstretched rock. There is a lengthy name for the waterfall in Khasi, the local language. The British gave the waterfall its name, “Elephant Falls,” after a nearby rock formation that resembled an elephant. This rock was lost in an earthquake long ago.
